Breathe On Me, Breath Of God

One of my favorite morning songs recently is an old hymn, Breathe On Me, Breath of God,” written by Edwin Hatch in 1878.

There are many mornings when I wake up with my own agenda, my own idea of how things should go that day, but this song reminds me to attune myself to God’s will and plan for my life for that day.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love
And do what Thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until my will is one with Thine,
To do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

One of my favorite recorded versions of this hymn is Steve Greens…

Up next Even If The story behind and lyrics to Even If, a song by Bart Millard and MercyMe. He Will Hold Me Fast Old lyrics set to a new tune for a song that has quickly become a favorite.
